Scientific Symposium: Science and Policy for Health, Agriculture, Nutrition & Economic Growth

Last year, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Institute of Medicine’s Community Medicine & Public Health Department through the ‘Nutrition Collaborative Research Support Program’ (now renamed the ‘Nutrition Innovation Lab’, NIL) and supported by USAID held the first scientific symposium here in Nepal on the linkages between agriculture and nutrition. With active and engaged participation, the event successfully facilitated discussion between scientists, program implementers and policy makers working across various sectors, all focused on improving food security, nutrition and health.

Recommendations from this symposium called for annual evidence summits to facilitate the rapid sharing of new research findings linking agricultural interventions to nutritional outcomes, and stimulate interdisciplinary discussion about their program and policy implications.   In response to that recommendation, IOM, NARC and JHSPH, in collaboration with the Nutrition Innovation Lab, will hold the 2ndAnnual Scientific Symposium on August 13-14, 2013 entitled: “Science and Policy for Health, Agriculture, Nutrition & Economic Growth”. For more information on the symposium and to register, please visit: http://www.nutritioncrsp.org/opportunities/conferences/

At this time, we call upon you and members of your organizations to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation at the symposium. Instructions for abstract submission may be found here: http://www.nutritioncrsp.org/opportunities/conferences/jhu-2013-symposiu...
Please note that the deadline for abstract submission is June 30, 2013 (any other dates recorded on the website are being updated to reflect this deadline) .

We look forward to your participation in this event and are excited to engage with each of you this August. Please contact Abhigyna Bhattarai at abhattarai@nutritioncrsp.org.np or at 01-5521670 should you have any questions related to the symposium.
